How to understand wheel fitment by calculating your wheel offset and width manually

In this quick video we give you a rundown of how to manually work out the width and the offset of your wheels, this is especially helpful if the wheels don't have stamps on them.

Calculating the wheel fitment can allow you to figure out weather or not a wheel will fit your car correctly.

What’s up guys, were just going to give you a little in-sight today on how to manually calculate your offset, I know we had some people commenting last week that, what if your wheels don’t have the fitments stamped into it, so were just going show you how to do that manually now.

So the first step when you calculate your offset is to measure the bead to bead on your wheel, that’s the measurement form there to there, it’s really important that you just measure just the beads and not the lips as well, don’t ask me why that’s just how it is

So our bead to bead measurement is 250mm, Our width calculation now is 250/25.4, 25.4 is the calculation for millimetres to inches which gives us 10 inches or there or there about’s

The next step for us to work on is to measure the back spacing. To do that you have to have the wheel on a level surface with no tyre mounted. And then we just use a flat surface, you can use a piece of timber or whatever you have got, it doesn’t really matter. And you just need to calculate the distance between the zero point, the backspace and the actual bolting face on the wheel here. So you can see that there we’ve got 175mm

So that is one of the measurements that we need, the next measurement we need is we need to know the center line of the wheel. The exact direct middle of the wheel, we know its 250mm so 125mm would be half of that, that there is our center point. All we need to do then is subtract from the backspacing the distance which is 50mm, because its 175 – 125 which is here.

Incidentally where we can see where the welding line is. So that’s the distance between, that’s a positive offset, obviously if it came this way it would be a negative offset. So we have a positive 50 mm offset and its an 18x10 inch rim. I hope that helps!
