How do I clean my alloy wheels?

Regular cleaning is the key! Once a week is ideal but never leave it for more than a fortnight or the brake dust can build up and cause permanent damage to your paint or clear coat.

When it comes to car maintenance we often forget about the wheels focusing more on the body of the vehicle, however regular cleaning and maintenance is as important for the wheels as it is for the cars body.
Alloy wheels require more maintenance than others, Properly maintained alloy wheels will add to the appearance and overall value of your car. Consider the following points to extend the life of your alloy wheels.
Wash your wheels regularly to prevent the buildup of dirt and brake dust, use warm and soapy water and if needed a tar and bug remover. Never use abrasives such as steel wool or polishing compounds. Never clean your wheels if they are still hot from driving as the water will evaporate too quickly and leave soap streaking, was your wheels one at a time to ensure you do a thorough detailed job be sure to clean inside the barrels as they will look cleaner from a distance Use a different sponge on the wheels to the one you use on the cars body work.
If you are using tyre shine pray the tyre shine onto a rag first before you apply the tyre shine this will stop you from getting splatters down the side of your car after you have finished
