U-M now has the largest list of National Institutes of Health approved disease specific human embryonic stem cell lines of U.S. Academic Institutions. The MStem lab has gone from two disease specific stem cell lines on the NIH registry in 2012 to 25 today.

At U-M's MStem lab, researchers are actually able to study how disease develops outside of the body in order to better address treatment and cures for a multitude of rare genetic diseases.
