At Global Views, we want you to be happy with the freight shipments that you receive. But we do understand that sometimes things don’t go to plan. This video walks through the claims process.

These are not the requirements of Global Views, so we don’t make the rules here…. These are the requirements of ALL of the LTL (less than truck) and Parcel delivery services.

When a shipment arrives, the first thing to do is to count the number of pieces in the shipment - this can be skids, crates, and/or cartons. Match the amount of shipment pieces to the quantity listed on the delivery receipt document.

If your pieces are wrapped in shrink wrap, then the wrap should be intact. If the wrap looks OK, then you should accept the shipment. Just a heads up here: carriers will not allow you to inspect your shipment if there are not any obvious signs of damage. If the shrink wrap does appear ripped, this could be a sign of shortage in your shipment (in other words, an item or box could be missing).

If a shipment arrives and the item does have obvious damage, you are entitled to refuse the damaged shipment. Make a note on the delivery receipt of any damage to the outer packaging, like a crushed corner… or a hole in the box, no matter if you decide to keep the shipment or refuse it.

In order to help with your claim, please make a note on the delivery receipt:
The type of damage
The type of shortage
Whether the shrink wrap was damaged or not

Make sure to inspect items inside the box (in other words inspect items for concealed damage - when there is no visible damage to the outer packaging, but damage is discovered once the carton is opened) within 48 HOURS of signing your delivery receipt in order to prevent a denial of a claim.

In order to report both packaging and concealed damage, please complete a claim form and send it to [email protected]. Make sure to take A LOT of images (the more the better) and keep the original packaging and boxes that your item arrived in.

If delivery receipt is not signed with the details of any shortage or damage, Global Views reserves the right to refuse liability or responsibility for damage. So it’s very important to make sure that your receiving facility follows these guidelines in order to avoid additional fees and/or delays in claim settlement. We will not be able to process a claim if it is not reported to Global Views before the receiving facility delivers to the client. Once a claim is filed, the carrier expects the item to be at the original address it was delivered to, for inspection purposes.

All in all, please be patient with us. The claims process can take a while - up to 30 days in some cases. This is why refusal is recommended if there is visible damage to the item at the time of delivery.

Let’s review:
Inspect cartons carefully. REFUSE damaged packages, keep undamaged packages.
REPORT all damages within 48 hours of delivery, directly to Global Views at [email protected]. Receivers must report damages, shipment must be at the original delivery address of the process claim.
NOTATE damage on the delivery receipt. Failure to make notations will result in claim denial by the carrier.
TAKE PICTURES! The item, the box and the inner packing material.

If you have additional questions, please contact [email protected].
