Hymn to the Nile River, the Lifeblood of Ancient Egypt
The Hymn to the Nile starts with:
"Hail to thee, O Nile! Who manifests thyself over this land, and comes to give life to Egypt!"
Herodotus, the 5th-century B.C. Greek historian, coined his famous phrase, "Egypt is the gift of the Nile" from these opening lines. This statement is a historically proven fact that can be summed up in this equation, "Nile river = The Life of Egypt"
