Marduk the God of creation in Babylonian Mythology
Marduk, the supreme god of Babylon, ascended to reign over the Babylonian pantheon, becoming one of the most revered deities in ancient Mesopotamian religion, especially during the peak of the Babylonian Empire. His rise symbolized Babylon’s growing dominance over other city-states in Mesopotamia.
Marduk’s influence persisted through the Neo-Babylonian Empire, especially under the reign of Nebuchadnezzar II. The Greeks likened him to Zeus, and the Romans saw him as Jupiter, recognizing him as the Babylonian King of the Gods. Even after Babylon’s decline, his myth and legacy endured, leaving an indelible mark on the region's religious traditions.
