Welcome to my playthrough of Pikmin! I am playing the Wii version, which is technically titled "New Play Control! Pikmin." It was one of a series of GameCube games that was released on the Wii with motion controls. With the motion controls, you point the Wiimote at the screen and press A to throw the Pikmin. While I own this version, I prefer using the Dolphin emulator to capture games, so I am using a mouse to emulate a Wiimote. It works very well!
Pikmin was released in 2001 on the Nintendo Gamecube. It was created by Shigeru Miyamoto, and is described as an RTS and Puzzle game. It was very popular, and spawned two sequels (Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3) and a spin-off (Hey! Pikmin). Olimar even secured a spot in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and subsequent titles in the series.
You play as Captain Olimar, stranded on a planet when his ship is hit by a meteor. You find these little creatures which Olimar calls "Pikmin," and they help you on your journey to repair your ship. But don't take too long, as you only have enough resources to last 30 days!
I am playing this game mostly blind. I rented it once when I was a kid, and I played through the first day around 6 years ago. It is one of my big "blind spots" on Nintendo franchises. So how does it hold up today? Let's find out!
