Many women I work with struggle to own, claim, feel, process, express and communicate their anger
They feel shame for feeling angry, suppress their anger to avoid conflict, feel overwhelmed with how to process it in their bodies or struggle to express it in healthy, constructive ways
However, anger is such an important emotion to be listening to as it is deeply linked to our power
Anger is often an internal response to something not feeling ok for us
Perhaps a boundary was crossed, something felt like a no, a need wasn’t met, or we didn’t feel heard, respected or honoured
And the sensation of the anger is moving us into some form of action
Such as having a conversation, making a change, standing up for ourselves, setting a boundary, communicating our feelings or expressing a need
The key thing with anger is HOW we communicate it
When we express our anger with our hearts closed, we are often in a space of self-protection, defence and guarding
Which hides the very thing that truly needs to be communicated
The work is to connect with what is BEHIND your anger
The more tender, vulnerable and painful emotions that your anger is masking or guarding
Such as hurt, sadness, grief, disappointment, rejection, abandonment or heartache
When you can open your heart and connect with the deeper truth of what you are feeling this can then be revealed and shared
This allows what you are feeling (including the anger) to be received, heard and met in a much deeper way
