Here is a process breakdown of the first scene of Forget Me Not
Denver was the animator for this scene!
Here are their thoughts on it:
This scene was very ambiguous for a long time in production, we didn’t have an actual layout, and the camera pan that was built into this scene also messed with the timing of things.
I animated the little girl, Ophelia, first, then I did the background, and I animated the Dad last!
The dad wasn’t originally going to be animated. We imagined him just as a held drawing silhouette in the background— but that didn’t actually make sense when the actual background was made. Plus the dad is speaking here, so I decided to go ahead and animate him on threes and fours.
Once I finally got to see the final result, I’m very happily surprised how it turned out! I’m also happy how Ophelia stands out in this scene. I think it’s a great opening shot!
