Adobe InDesign: Convert Type to Vector Paths and Add a Drop Shadow in Adobe InDesign
I'm Joseph Caserto, a graphic designer and educator. Adobe InDesign, by Adobe Systems, is the publishing industry's standard software for page layout and publication design, and must be mastered by professional graphic designers and producers of magazines, catalogs, and publications. Built into Adobe InDesign are many features of its cousins Adobe Illustrator, which is used for drawing vector graphics, and Adobe Photoshop, which is used for creating raster graphics. This tutorial covers two of them: Converting type to outlines, and adding a drop shadow.
Converting Type to Outlines allows you to use any font installed in your system, and outline its characters with vector paths, which creates an editable shape that can be used as a frame to hold art or text.
A drop shadow is a raster graphics effect that gives an object the illusion of dimension, as if a light source was shining on it.
