Magazine Design: How Is Print Magazine Design Different from Digital Tablet Design?

Hi, I'm Joseph Caserto, a graphic designer and educator. I have over two decades of publication design experience, including designing interactive digital magazines for mobile tablets from Apple Inc. that use iOS, like the iPad, iPad 2, and iPad Mini, and Android, like the Samsung Galaxy, Barnes and Noble Nook, and Amazon Kindle.

If you've ever read your favorite magazine on a mobile device, you already know that it's not enough to simply digitize a printed publication and put it on a tablet. In this tutorial, I'll show you some essential fundamentals that are critical for the designer of a digital publication to know.

I'll point out the critical differences of each medium, how the tablet user is different from a web user, and how user experience (UX) makes navigating a printed magazine much different from an interactive digital one that relies on a user's touch.

This lesson is for anyone interested in Graphic design, web design, UX design, interactive design, or digital publishing production and technology that uses Adobe Digital Publishing System / DPS with Adobe InDesign, or other similar software.

This tutorial is a lesson from my course, Create Your Own iPad and Android Publications, available at Udemy.com. For a limited time, you can get the course for $39 (reg. $99) through this link:
