The Trews - Not Ready To Go (Drum/Bodhran Cover)
I've been having a blast the last few months learning to play the Bodhran. It's such an expressive instrument and a ton of fun to play. The Trews are an awesome rock band with a ton of great songs that are staples of Canadian rock radio. I heard their song "Not Ready To Go" on the radio the other day and recognized that the drum intro (which I'd always assumed was played on a floor tom) sounds a lot like a Bodhran or a frame drum of some kind. The Trews are originally from Nova Scotia and would have been exposed to a ton of Celtic/East Coast music where the Bodhran is featured heavily but I don't know if it was a Bodhran for sure. If you know what it was on the original studio recording let me know in the comments.
Anyways whether it is or isn't played on a Bodhran I thought I would have some fun recording a drum set/bodhran version, and it was definitely harder than I thought to switch between them. Definitely a lot of fun though!
