COD2 SP | Stonne - French Perspective
Here's yet another "Call of Duty 2 SP" custom map called "stonne2". As you can tell by the number, there is another map which is called "stonne1". This second map is from the French perspective, while the first map is from the German perspective.
In this second map, you are a French soldier who is driving a tank and you are tasked with taking out the German tanks as well as their 2 anti-tank guns in the French town of Stonne. It's optional to kill the German infantrymen and destroy their fuel barrels/transport trucks though.
The only interesting aspect of this second map that I found was the player's character, who is driving a tank instead of being a normal infantryman. This is actually the first custom map that I know of for "Call of Duty 2 SP" that places the player's character inside of a tank instead of just being an infantryman. The original game's SP campaign had 2 maps where the player was inside of a tank, but I don't know of any custom maps that have done this.
However, unlike the first map, this second map isn't as interesting and it's also a much shorter map. I found a few bugs with the possibility of getting the player's tank stuck in between obstacles like trees and fences. One issue besides a few bugs are the British soldiers, who are being called French soldiers despite having a British accent on their voices as well as having British weapons. If it's possible, I think that the author could have replaced the British with proper French soldiers who have French weapons, or at least some stolen German weapons. Despite these cons, I'm glad that the author decided to create a rare map that places the player's character inside of a tank.
The difficulty is easy, because the targets that you must destroy with your tank don't move and are fairly easy to avoid/destroy.
Overall, I liked the first map much more than this second map. This second map isn't bad though, because it's a rare tank-driving map that seems to only exist in the original game's SP campaign. Hopefully more mappers in the future will create more of these tank-driving maps/missions.
