COD2 SP | Stonne - German Perspective
Here's yet another "Call of Duty 2 SP" custom map called "stonne1". As you can tell by the number, there is another map which is called "stonne2". This first map is from the German perspective, while the second map is from the French perspective.
First of all, I want to mention that I really enjoy custom maps where the player is a German soldier instead of the usual American, British, or Russian soldier. It's refreshing to see a battle of World War 2 from the Axis perspective, instead of the over-used Allies perspective.
This map has a proper intro, outro, and nicely-placed checkpoints as you progress through the map completing the objectives. The difficulty is medium, as there were a few places where I almost died. A majority of the map is street fighting, with some enemies that appear as long-range threats.
The events of this map are nicely done to the point that I daresay this map could be mistaken as a map from the original "Call of Duty 2 SP" campaign. There are voiced dialogues (although the mouth movement is absent), objectives that give you a checkpoint upon completion as a reward, and a realistic setting based upon a real-life location: the French town of Stonne. This location is where the French and Germans fought in the year of 1940, with both sides suffering losses.
I highly recommend this map, especially if you want to experience a custom map that could be mistaken as a map from the original game's SP campaign. The level design is great and the events that occur are well-executed, with the exception of a few bugs here and there. One issue besides a few bugs are the British soldiers, who are being called French soldiers despite having a British accent on their voices as well as having British weapons. If it's possible, I think that the author could have replaced the British with proper French soldiers who have French weapons, or at least some stolen German weapons.
