It is actually rare that a big airline has to file for insolvency. But Germanys second largest airline, Air Berlin, had to file for insolvency after Etihad Airways pulled the funding plug. Which means in fact, that Air Berlin is bankrupt.
But I have booked a flight with Air Berlin way before that happened and no one was expecting that the airline will go bankrupt.
Now Air Berlin is cancelling more and more flights, especially long-haul flights get cancelled. And I am one of the passengers who are part of this cancellation…
The airline says they might rebook passengers, but already now many people flying with Airberlin are stranded. And if I cancel that canceled flight, I won’t even get refunded as for now…

If you need to be somewhere consider booking new flights before they get too expensive!
