We left Lisbon harbor to sail north towards the Bay of Biscay with the Research Vessel Meteor. Along the northern shore of Portugal and in the Bay of Biscay a storm was waiting for us! I hope everyone has a strong stomach!
The waves get higher, the wind rougher and rain and thunder crush down on the Atlantic ocean. We had to stop working because waves got too high, so high even that a screen flew from the wall into the room. So we have to “enjoy” the Atlantic winter storm!
Finally the waves got higher than the ship so that even water got into the deck area where we were!
But the bright sight is, that after the storm we got a beautiful sunset and we were able to spot some dolphins at the bow of the ship!
Episode V of this series is about our experience with the Research Vessel Meteor during a storm in the Bay of Biscay.
