Episode 2: The Magical Turnabout
At first Retinz's alibi seemed more airtight than a glass cage...but that's when Apollo remembered one of the important tricks of a magician: misdirection. So, in order to find the truth past the illusion, it was time to set their sights on another path....one hidden in plain sight.
Taking a peek behind the curtain, so to speak, the shadowy figure during the show was Mr. Hat, but the other figure....was Mistree when he was being pulled up. But therein lies the true means of murder...when the dragon set fell, and Mistree rose up, his back was plunged with the steel sword hidden in the cushioning! A murderous magic act, indeed....
However, no blade was found at the scene....and therefore, the argument was only a theory at best. But after thinking back on the sequence of events, it all made sense now....the proof was the coffin itself, and its interchangeable parts! The handprints were the giveaway, and some luminol testing made it quite clear how it happened. And with no tricks left...the spotlight's now shining brightly on him, and there's no more places to hide.
Seems his hatred for Gramarye ran deep...enough to kill his supposed protege just to frame their only heir. After being taken away, the judge commented the trial itself was like a show in of itself (considering the death-defying arguments Apollo had to pull through).
After everything was over...Trucy still had doubts over what Retinz said, but Apollo then remembered what she said before; her family creed. "A true entertainer always keeps a smile on their face." Despite all the jeering, she kept up her act and proved herself strong. Of course, Sadhmadhi also pays a short visit...but it seems Apollo knows him from somewhere. He wasn't at liberty to say from where though...which makes the two curious. They received a call from Wright and explained what happened...needless to say he was relieved, and that he now acknowledged Apollo as a full-fledged attorney. He won't be able to make it to the show, though, so he asks him to go in his place. Trucy made sure to save Apollo the best seat in the house...center stage!
