Episode 2: The Magical Turnabout
After another harrowing escape, the team plans their next move...when a certain producer comes to rain on their parade. Bonny also comes in with something to say....but Betty seems pretty intent on not spilling anything after that last bit. Still, they needed to pull out all the stops if they plan to pull a victory out of thin air.
Once court was back in session....Trucy's "fans" start booing and heckling, but the judge isn't having any of it. After calming down the peanut gallery, the judge allows Trucy to demonstrate how the trick was done. After it was done, the cross-examination seemed to be plausible enough but it only added fuel to the fire. However....Bonny comes up, and after seeing Trucy courageously stand up despite the accusations thrown at her, it gave her courage as well...that's why she brought up some footage that wasn't shown during the broadcast. Seems the cameraman was focusing on Bonny....a bit too much.
However, by comparing the two films, they find an inconsistency immediately: the playing cards indicated in the swap wasn't in the first one!
However....that's when Retinz himself takes the stand and tries to reason his way out of this scandal. But Apollo had plenty of proof he had less than friendly intentions towards Trucy. And the fake contract and carbon paper trick was one of the key pieces he put up to shut him up. And then there was the other issue: what if the Reus killed onstage....wasn't the real Mr. Reus?
After revealing the link between Reus and Gramarye....the cape was pulled and it turns out, Apollo figured it out: Retinz was the real Reus! Turns out the one who was killed was an acquaintance of his who was a fan of his magic, even taught a few tricks of the trade. However, he had an alibi as he was at the station at the time of the murder. But the matter of his tricks....well, the next tell-all would be quite a spectacle.
