Burnt Clay | A day of Raku in Occidental, CA
I did a Raku workshop with Clay Folk Studio in Occidental, CA. It was so much fun! We brought a couple of bisque fired pieces each to the workshop, glazed them there, and did numerous firings throughout the day.
After each piece is fired to temp in the kiln, they are immediately taken out and put in a garbage can full of combustible materials such as newspaper, sawdust and cardboard. The lack of oxygen in the garbage can causes the glaze to react in unpredictable ways.
