The person we tell lies to most often is our own self. Sometimes, we engage in something we know to be wrong but find a justification for it. This leads to a somewhat precarious situation, where, despite knowing, we pretend not to know. Rather than acting out of a genuine conviction, we create a fake conviction. Sweeping the dust under the rug doesn't make it vanish, and one day, the dirt underneath will start to overflow. In a similar manner, the shadow finds its way into our conscious despite our denial. And thus, OCD is born!
