Can you truly "create" a Cyberpunk look in post, or does it start on set? In this video, I break down the process of grading a cinematic Cyberpunk aesthetic, using DaVinci Resolve and footage specifically shot to handle these heavy color grades.

We explore why the grading process must be rooted in the original cinematography focusing on how to extract and enhance colors already present in the shot. I’ll show you how I isolate building lights to set the mood, and then match the rest of the frame to that core "Cyberpunk" palette.

What techniques do I use:

The "Lighting-First" Grade: Why your footage needs specific colors on set to survive a heavy grade.

Selective Look Matching: Isolating key elements (construction lights) and balancing the scene around them.

Motion Blur: Using selective motion blur in a separate DaVinci Resolve node to enhance the "Cyberpunk" energy and pace.

Power Window Pro-Tip: A technical lifehack for tracking objects that move off-frame without losing your mask.

Shot Matching: How to take your "Hero Grade" and apply it consistently across a full sequence.
