GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition, Protune, Don't Use It.
The Protune mode on Hero 3plus should provide for better control of color grading, exposure and contrast during editing while retaining full quality, much like a raw file on advanced still cameras. My test indicates that it's not worth the extra editing time you need to put in. You'll have to adjust brightness, contrast, gamma, colours and sharpness to obtain almost the same picture you can get straight from the standard mode. Ok, Protune delivers more details in the shadows but at the same time you loose contrast. Protune needs 70% more storage space than the standard mode. Protune is good for TV production. For us amateurs, stay away from it and make your life easier.
