The Hero 3plus has the capability of filming in 2.7K resolution, but how much will this improve the image quality as long as the end result on Youtube is 1080p.
2.7K means twice the amount of pixels compared to fullHD 1080p and is useful if you need to do extensive zoom-in during editing.
As we can see in this example the difference is somewhat impressive, but keep in mind that you get 70% larger files and the battery will drain faster in the 2.7K mode.
Zooming out gives an indication of the usable zoom range.
Another advantage with 2.7K is that this resolution is halfway to 4K, something to consider if you want to be prepared to publish in 4K when Youtube implements this resolution.
