One of my favorite takeaways from Burning Man is Consent Culture. If you want to take someone's picture, give them a hug, feed them some cheese, "Ask First." Not only to avoid being accused of harassment or sexual assault but because it's nice and simple. Ask first and if the answer is not "Hell yes!" it's no. "Maybe" is no and so on. I recently hugged a dear friend without her consent. She was delighted to see and be hugged by me. But my wife told me it was inappropriate to EVER hug someone, even if you are friends and have hugged them before, without prior consent. What do you think?
