• Compare and contrast narrative, persuasive, and procedural text.
In a narrative text, you tell a story but you also make a point. The purpose is not only to tell an entertaining or informative tale, but also to expound on the importance of the experience.
Persuasive text involves trying to convince the reader of something and for a specific reason.
Cause and effect and persuasive essays are similar and can easily be confused. Cause and effect tend to have already happened (war, an election, etc.) while persuasive essays are trying to convince you of an opinion or point of view.
Procedural text would tell the reader specifically how to do something (directions, recipe)
As you would expect, problem/solution text describes a problem and how it should be solved.
