Jimmy Stafford from Train & his funny Guns N' Roses story
Imagine living beside Guns N' Roses, one of rock's loudest, rowdiest bands, while going to college during the day and trying to get a good sleep at night. Jimmy Stafford, co-founder, songwriter and guitarist of the multi Grammy Award winning band Train did. To state the obvious, there were a few late night noisy parties. And years later, Jimmy had the chance to talk to Slash about it.
Calling Jimmy's music career successful is putting it mildly. Drops of Jupiter, Drive By, Calling All Angels, Meet Virginia, and of course Hey, Soul Sister, Train's 6x platinum selling single which reached #1 in 16 countries.
During his 22 year tenure in Train with singer Pat Monahan, bassist Charlie Colin and drummer Scott Underwood, Jimmy recorded eight albums selling more than 10 million copies and over 30 million tracks. Train was nominated for eight Grammy Awards (winning three, including best rock song for "Drops of Jupiter"), three American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards (winning both top rock song for "Hey, Soul Sister" and top rock artist in 2011), an ASCAP Music Award (winning song of the year for "Hey, Soul Sister" in 2011), a CMT Music Award, a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award, and a Peoples Choice Award.
After his final tour with Train in the fall of 2016, Jimmy returned home to Nashville and discovered unfinished songs he had written. He continued to write, record and soon accumulated dozens of songs, the best being released on his debut solo album "No Man's Land" in November 2017. Jimmy wrote and produced the album as well as performing most of the music. Inspired by the process, Jimmy continued to write and has since released an incredible four more albums since April 2018 - "Shine Like The Sun", "Liberty Street", "New Adventures in Wonderland" and in our humble opinion, his best solo album so far, Timebomb.
