In this video, we will talk about alternative products that are often used in an attempt to improve the acoustics of an environment, but which do not have a comparable effectiveness with products suitable for sound absorption.

00:00 Introduction
00:14 Egg Box (cardboard)
— Thinking about saving, some people think about using an egg box to soften the sound reflections, but the egg box has a very low performance for absorption, as it is hollow, in addition to being flammable and contributing to the proliferation of insects, such as cockroaches. Do not use egg box!

01:09 PVC Lining
— PVC is very useful to cover and disguise the pipes that pass through the ceiling, when there is no slab for that. However, because it is smooth, the PVC reflects the sound a lot, causing a great reverberation.

01:41 Styrofoam
— Styrofoam is a great thermal material, but it has no use in acoustics. Because it is light, it cannot isolate a noise; and because it is not porous/soft, it does not absorb sound.

01:41 What materials to use?
— It depends a lot on your need. We have already recorded several videos for each type of environment, whether residential or commercial.
