Key #4: Design
A design is a plan or specification for the construction of an object or system or for the implementation of an activity or process, or the result of that plan or specification in the form of a prototype, product or process. The verb to design expresses the process of developing a design. In some cases, the direct construction of an object without an explicit prior plan (such as in craftwork, some engineering, coding, and graphic design) may also be considered to be a design activity. The design usually has to satisfy certain goals and constraints, may take into account aesthetic, functional, economic, or socio-political considerations, and is expected to interact with a certain environment. Major examples of designs include architectural blueprints, engineering drawings, business processes, circuit diagrams, and sewing patterns.

Leonardo Da Vinci was a master of design, who attempted to create a flying machine. Through observation and dissection, Da Vinci undertook deep studies into the form and design of living beings, with great focus on birds and their ability to fly. He attempted many designs and even created prototypes of his flying machines but lacked the 1 horse power engine he needed to generate enough thrust to achieve flight. In his honor we shall now make a “Bug Vinci”

Likewise there are levels of skill development in Design. For example design plays an essential part in the creation of any flying machine. The balance between lift and thrust, the consideration of weight generated by a small engine versus the drag created by the added weight, and the blending of beauty and function were all considerations the Wright Brothers had to considering when building the world’s first flying machine.

Leonardo Da Vinci (1452– 1519) was an Italian polymath of the Renaissance whose areas of interest included invention, drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, paleontology, and cartography.
Origami - In modern usage, the word "origami" is used as an inclusive term for all folding practices, regardless of their culture of origin. The goal is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. Modern origami practitioners generally discourage the use of cuts, glue, or markings on the paper.
Prototype - A prototype is an early sample, model, or release of a product built to test a concept or process
Blueprint - The term blueprint continues to be used less formally to refer to any floor plan[2] (and even less formally, any type of plan).[3][4] Practicing engineers, architects, and drafters just call them "drawings" or "prints".
