Safe anchor alarms on Raspberry server + tablet client with avNav et al on buzzer or USB sound box
Today we compare different method to create anchor alarms on your Raspberry on a boat server - and in some cases also on your client, e.g. you tablet or mobile phone.
We will utilize a USB speaker as well as an 5V active buzzer (KY-012) via GPIO output.
I tested avNAV as well as Freeboard SK and the Signal K "Anchor Alarm" plugin, with their advantages and disadvantages.
As a base system we use OpenPlotter with a GPS NMEA0183 input. As always, SignalK is the data hub for all our business.
