Read Storybook: The Honest-to-Goodness Truth by Patricia C. McKissack. After being caught in a lie, Libby promises to speak the truth no matter how much it hurts. She soon realizes that her truth telling is offending people and leaving her lonely. Libby talks to her mother and learns the importance of speaking the truth in the right way, at the right time and for the right reasons.

2. What does Mama call the honest-to-goodness truth?
3. Your Big World: When Libby apologized to Miz Tusselbury, she answered, “The truth is often hard to chew. But if it is sweetened with love, then it is a little easier to swallow.” What does this mean? Do you agree? Why or why not?
