I try to reach the highest possible intensity. When I was a kid I already did something like this in RCT 1. It was just a messy wild coaster without much thought behind it. Marcel Vos inspired me to try again to make the most intense rollercoaster possible in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. His video shows a rollercoaster with the highest possible intensity rating allowed by the game, but he makes use of a bug to get it. Therefore I wanted to know what's the highest possible intensity without the bug.
This is the most intense rollercoaster that I could come up with. It achieves its intensity by going through some key track pieces with the maximum possible speed:
1. a small vertical loop
2. the sharpest turn, unbanked
3. a hill
It also has the maximum of 31 inversions, 63 drops and 32768 m length.
I have tested various types of turns and hills to find out which gave the highest G forces, and I tried to keep the average speed as high as possible by using a little non-essential track as possible (which in turn does make it a bit boring).
Among some other things, I tried placing the station at the maximum height and using more or fewer launched lift hills, replacing them by other drops like loopings. I found that this balance and using mostly barrel rolls for the inversions worked best.
It's probably possible to achieve an even higher intensity. There's not really a clear limit, but I think this is pretty close. (It would be cool to see a video of a better coaster if it's possible.)
The unused piece of track near the station is what I connected the station to first to attract guests to the coaster. Then I connected the station to the deadly track and opened the attraction without testing. Guests queue if you do that. I don't know why. Maybe they trust a slight modification to a coaster that used to be good.
