Wood is seldom predictable - the port-side upper gunwale became a real headache to fit - so even after leaving it under tension all winter I decided that it must be steam-bent into shape.
...but how to do that efficiently when I can't use my steam-box?
I left it to my subconscious to find a solution and Hey Presto I woke up at zero-dark-early (sometime between 2 and 3 am) with a solution.
We drilled several holes in a 3/4" ID steam-rated hose; one 3/4" hole near the centre to admit the steam and a double-row of 3/8" holes along the length to evenly distribute the steam along the length.
...I'll find out today whether it worked or not, and to what extent.
