A Kilt Is For Life.
A client asked me to make a new kilt for his son and to alter his (the father's) kilt.
At once I saw the opportunity to learn some lessons, as the father had received HIS kilt when he was the age that his son is now - and he must have had the same physique as his son at that age as the measurements were quite close.
This means that I have at least /some/ idea how the son's physique will change over the next 40-ish years and I can plan the 'construction' accordingly so that this new kilt can be successfully altered over the course of his life.
the pleating of the older kilt is a bit 'mucked up', so that's a precedent that I'm NOT going to follow.
...also, in hindsight I was in the early stages of a miserable cold, so if I sound more disjointed and rambling than 'normal'
