The PEM from AWR Technology and Astromount
A Gallery of installed PEM mounts for Telescopes. British designed and made by AWR Technology and Astromount. This heavy duty mount has a very large payload capacity (approaching 100kg), smooth as silk in operation and rigid where it matters. The polar axle supports the Declination axle by bearings either side of it so ensuring a very stable platform. Driven by stepper motors it is accurate with AWR Intelligent Drive System, stand alone GOTO operation or commanded by a computer.
It is called a Portable English Mount by the fact that there is a lower and upper pier, in this case held together with a large steel 'C' shaped beam.
The wormwheels are phosphor bronze and the rest is stainless steel. The axles are 45mm diameter thick walled tubing with thrust bearings to match, three sets per axis.
The adjuster base has adjustments of 12 arc minutes per turn of the screws allowing very precise setup.
