Recycling old, long-defunct equipment should be done wisely. Specifically, in these times when prices for non-ferrous metals have skyrocketed, it makes sense to dismantle used equipment yourself, remove all valuables, and recycle the rest. This has yielded many interesting items containing non-ferrous (copper, aluminum, brass) and precious metals (gold, silver, platinum, palladium).
In today's disassembly, we're looking at the battery management system board of an uninterruptible power supply. It was removed from a special compartment where the battery packs were connected. This system served as a backup power source. The board itself is very heavy and contains, in addition to copper, a significant amount of aluminum and a transformer. Given the current price of aluminum, it's not worth overlooking.
In this video, we'll completely disassemble this board and examine how many non-ferrous metals it contains.
