Disposal of old and end-of-life equipment is a very correct and necessary thing. It is always necessary to dispose of it correctly. But, unfortunately, this does not always work out and not all organizations approach this process conscientiously.
One organization was just in the process of writing off old equipment for subsequent disposal. The author managed to participate in this event and prepare a lot of equipment for recycling (monitors, printers (matrix, inkjet and laser), system units, UPS (uninterruptible power supply), voltage stabilizers and much more. Knowing how the recycling itself goes (usually everything is taken to the landfill) and the general attitude towards it, it was possible to disassemble the equipment and take from it everything that is needed. So, many monitors were disassembled. Knowing that CRT monitors contain a decent amount of copper, disassembling it was justified. There were a lot of monitors (Samsung, LG, Sony, Philips and others), more than 50 pieces.
It was impractical to bury absolutely everything in the landfill. In this video, we will see how much copper is in 5 anchors (deflection system) of old CRT monitors. We will find out how much ferrous metal can be obtained and, of course, how much copper. The results are amazing!
