Murder at Old St. Thomas’s is a new historical fiction novel set in 1862, featuring a lot of history and a bit of mystery. The murder of a famous surgeon has occurred, his body seated in the Old Operating Theatre, and bookish Inspector Slaughter and his American sergeant must solve the mystery. The year 1862 was when St. Thomas’s Hospital was forced to move because of the railway, and resided in Surrey Gardens until new hospital buildings were ready in their current location. About the conversant
Lisa M. Lane is a historian and author. She writes literary fiction, academic works, and Victorian mysteries featuring authentic details and real historical figures. After several decades as a history professor, she turned her hand to putting flesh on the bones of the historical past. She lives in San Diego with her artist-woodworker husband, David, and their cat, Sabrina.
