The correlation method is used to test whether two variables are associated. The regression method is used to identify causation - if one of the variables causes the other. Both do this by plotting the dependent variable against the independent variable and looking for a statistically significant linear pattern.
The video defines the correlation coefficient and the coefficient of determination and shows how their values are interpreted. It also shows show confidence intervals for the line and prediction or inclusion intervals for the data are calculated.
