Welcome to The Blissful Dog Video Channel. First, we don't nag you to buy stuff, though we love it when you do. Our goal here is to share dog info on not only our products, but also on dog care tips, dog breed history, how to care for your dog's unique issues, arts and crafts on making fun dog projects that you do NOT have to be artistic to do and lots and lots of freebies.
You might be thinking, "Who the heck is this crazy dog woman and why should I trust her with my dog's good looks and health?"
Every time you turn around there is someone claiming to be an expert on dogs, how to care for them and what works on dogs. Why should you trust me and The Blissful Dog with your best friend's health and well-being?
For starters, I have worked in various aspects of the pet industry for over 30 years (yikes). While I was still in Dallas, in the mid-late 80s and early 1990s I was a manager and area manger for two of the biggest pet food chains (hint - they both start with a P). There I learned so much about how big companies operate and a lot of basic pet industry knowledge.
In 1996 I moved to Minnesota to take a job as a graphic designer for specialty dog show magazines. There I jumped headfirst into learning graphic design and soon website building. In 2001 I married my husband whom I had met in Minnesota and we moved up north, close to Canada.
IN the early 1990s I got my first show dog, a Chinese Shar-Pei and showed them for a bit before falling in love with French Bulldogs. In 1993 most people had never even heard of a Frenchie! I was smitten and for over 25 years was active in showing and breeding them. Not only did I breed many #1 Ranked, Beast in Show and Best in Specialty Show winners, but I also bred Frenchies that were known to be healthy. I bred the 1st French Bulldog to receive an OFA Excellent Hip score.
Along the way I was contacted by Howell books to write a book about French Bulldogs, which was quite an honor, and was interviewed for many magazines.
The Blissful Dog began out of my need for something that softened and moisturized my Frenchies noses for the show ring. There was nothing available at that time that wasn't all chemicals. Ugh, not on MY dogs. One day in 2002 I dabbed some shea butter on one of their noses once, without really thinking, and so it began!
A few years ago I quit breeding Frenchies to devote my full attention to The Blissful Dog. My tiny side gig was getting bigger and busier and was no longer a side gig. Fast forward through all the recipe tweaking, tragedies and triumphs, to today.
The Blissful Dog Inc. is now an international corporation found in stores all over the world. We're proud to be found on Chewy, Amazon and many other small chains, boutiques, grooming shops and we're sold by many rescue organizations!
We moved to a 40-acre farm with room to grow and have already built one huge addition and are thinking about another. Our team of dog loving, hard working Minnesotans (and one transplanter Southerner-me) devote ourselves to making sure each product that leaves here is infused with love and good intentions for your dog. It may sound a bit corny, but we believe it is an important of our sharing the bliss.
So, there are my dog street creds and we look forward to helping your dog look and feel their blissful best.

PS: That first slide has a picture of my pet yak, Kundun, who we can open the office windows and reach out and pet.
The two snow loving dogs are Skadi and Tili (¾ Leonberger and ¼ Great Pyrenees), Larccán is a smooth Brussels Griffon, we also have Linus (chocolate Lab who came with the farm), Zues (old blind German Shepherd cross who stumbled up one day in 40 below weather and never left), plus Gio, my English Toy Spaniel and Steve's dog, Pagel. And of course, our two ponies Nyker and Bliss. Of course, everyone brings their dogs to work as they wish and it is truly one blissful dog loving alive of heaven here. Except for the 40 below temperatures.
