How Do I Get Rid of Tear Stains???
This is one of the most common questions customers have when it comes to grooming. The brutal truth is the stained hair has to grow out and be cut off or be cut sort now or be bleached. It will never EVER be white, white WHITE unless you bleach it. Personally, bleach that close to eyes on a wiggly dog terrifies me.
What you CAN do is clean the face, keep it really clean and brighten the stained areas as much as possible using Razzle Dazzle White Pet Shampoo. This lays the base for clean, virgin white hair to grow in.
Now that we addressed expectations let's go over a couple of reasons dogs develop those rusty stains stains.
The protein in their tears and or saliva mixes with oxygen in the air and stains the coat the rusty color you see. The bigger and rounder eyes create more tears, so our baby-faced dogs will tear even more. Plus, it shows up more on light colored and white dogs.
There are a few things you can try to help make the tears less likely to create stains. Tips To Try for Lessening Dog Tear Stains
• Wash your dog's face with Razzle Dazzle White Pet Shampoo
• Pat dry
• Double check that face is completely dry
• Gently apply Boo Boo Butter to the irritated area, avoiding eyes. While Boo Boo Butter has no harmful active ingredients, it may sting if it gets into eyes (as anything will sting)

Each time you wash your dog's face in this manner you should see improvement. As the stained hair grows out, you will keep the new growth clean from the start
Changes From Within
Of course, nobody wants to wait for the changes that come about via diet changes. It can take 2-4 weeks (at least) to see changes and they may be subtle. But once you get a handle on this it will make it easier to maintain.

Diet Changes
• Change diet to a grain-free food with no dyes or color enhancers
• Treats should contain no dyes or color enhancers
• Consider a fish-based food. Eliminate chicken, which can be problematic for many dogs.
• Check your water source. If you have hard water with rust it may be a factor. Consider a water softener or giving your dog only distilled or purified water.
• While a food change is not guaranteed to eliminate tear staining, it is a relatively easy thing to try first. We gotta say it, if your dog is on a specific diet, consult your veterinarian.
One More Time: Dog tear stains are HARD to remove, even naturally. The hair can be brightened and look better with the steps above, but the hair has to grow out or be cut to get rid of the stained areas completely. Just like some red wine or coffee stains are impossible to get out 100%, removing your dog's tear stains naturally can be tough.
