Voyager 2 Jupiter Approach - Time Lapse
A short video of Voyager 2's view as it approached Jupiter in June and July 1979. About halfway through the video, the spacecraft began taking images far more rapidly, creating a smoother effect, as can be seen. Watch how many of Jupiter's moons cross in front and behind the gas giant, casting shadows on its surface.
