Here is the definition of the word hypocrisy: The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness. Superficiality or pretense.

The biggest danger of becoming a religious hypocrite is being hard hearted and then refusing to admit wrong, repenting and changing - and this effect is a sin the Lord hates because it is highly destructive both to the individuals living this way and to all those around them. Hypocrisy is a sickness, a disease full of lies and like a chameleon it changes it’s color. The Babylon church Jesus was speaking of in the Gospels, represents leaders who think leading a loud prayer meeting one day and then getting drunk the next day at parties with debauchery and falsehood, is alright.

Religious hypocrisy destroys churches and true faith:
1- In Matthew 23:13 religious hypocrisy destroyed the churches and prevented people from entering into the kingdom of God: “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for you neither go in yourselves, neither suffer you them that are entering to go in.”

2- Religious hypocrisy in Mark 7:6 portrayed professing believers as playing the role of good actors yet being at the same time false witnesses of Jesus who speak about Him but don't have Jesus or the Holy Ghost in them, instead their hearts are hard and they are full of dead bones; “He answered and said to them, Well has Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.”

3- Religious Hypocrisy has created a social gospel as it were that blows a trumpet for every alm given and only preaches material prosperity. Matthew 6:2 Therefore when you do your alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.

4- Religious Hypocrisy comes from hell, from the prince of darkness: Satan, who made himself appear before men as someone different from who he truly is inside: Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

The solution is in Jesus!!! Come to our Lord Jesus Christ and ask Him to release you from any and all forms of hypocrisy - Jesus will heal you of this deadly disease to be His faithful servant by His grace without spot or wrinkle - blameless in this wicked generation to shine like a star in the midst of thick darkness.
