The API Landscape: Tracking Trends, Technologies, and Products in the API Space
The API space is divers and dynamic and keeping up with it can be a bit challenging. One good way of exploring it and staying up to date is the "API landscape", explained here by Platformable's Mark Boyd.
The "API Landscape" is maintained by @platformablePlatformable, supported and hosted by @apidays' #apiscene, and it's crowd-sourced so everybody can submit new entries or request existing entries to be updated. Check out the landscape here:

It has been around since 2017 when it started as a static image. In 2021 it was overhauled and became an interactive tool, allowing users to explore all entries in more depth. Most recently, at the end of 2023, the taxonomy behind it was reworked and extended, and it now is based on a more detailed model of the overall API space.
