Windows Vista Build 4074 (Part 2): "Star-Spangled"

In this episode, we continue our investigation into the development of Windows Vista (Codename "Longhorn") by taking a look at build 4074 from April 2004. The most well-known "Longhorn" build, 4074 was first shown to developers at the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference 2004. It contains a new visual style, new wallpaper, new icons and the ability to render full Aero glass transparency (with a little tweaking!).
In this part of the episode, we take a look at Aero glass and the Desktop Composition Engine in action in this build.
