Today I stopped at an old roadside lunch bar in Oakford, just south of Perth in Western Australia. The building appears to have closed down recently, with a sign on the front saying the shop shut on Friday 8th March.

Walking around the outside you can still see old takeaway menus and food prices left behind. Nature is already starting to take over the place, with weeds growing through the car park and even bees building a hive behind one of the wooden panels on the side of the building.

I didn’t go inside the building as it is private property, but it was interesting to document the exterior of this old roadside takeaway before it possibly disappears.

These small lunch bars used to be common along rural roads in Western Australia, serving locals, truck drivers, and travellers passing through the area.
