Horizon Zero Dawn PC Patch 1.04 benchmarked and tested.
Greetings, everyone.
Another week, another tiny HZD patch, this is just as trivial as taking a breath these days, isn’t it? This patch promises some much needed Mouse Sensitivity fixes, more crashes addressed and even some CPU improvements, but we’ll see about that. From the benchmark results we can already see this patch hasn’t improve much at all compared to 1.03, at least on my system, this time around the results are on par with the previous version, contrary to what the patch notes claim. Bad luck I guess, not everyone will see improvements I assume, as they’re mostly for certain CPU configurations, probably slower or older CPUs, who knows.
Mouse sensitivity has been improved and not it doesn’t vary with the frame-rate, at last, an annoying issue present in the game since launch; but another sensitivity related issue still persists, the sliders for both X and Y axis still aren’t aligned with each other on the mouse settings UI, and pressing 10 times the X slider and the Y slider won’t leave them at the same level, so take this into consideration when adjusting your sensitivities.
Overall, since this is one of the biggest issues this patch has fixed for me, mouse sensitivity, there’s not much else really to discuss here, as I don’t get those “CPU improvements” the patch notes mention, on my system, patch 1.03 (the previous update) already improved CPU frame-times for me, that is.
The game still doesn’t crash for me at all, which is a good sign and it has been like this ever since the 1.03 update, I’m happy that they’re still addressing possible crash issues with every patch, too.
Overall, the game’s starting to improve patch by patch, little by little, and perhaps they should release already a bigger patch instead of these tiny incremental upgrades that don’t improve stuff for too many people. At this point, the game still has half a dozen of official open issues, and I assure you there are more issues not listed there in the patch notes, many of those minor things, but some still important ones as well.
As usual I hope this can be useful to any of you, and I’ll see you in the next one : ) (which at this pace will probably be, once again, an HZD video, lol).
