Update to FoodShare Work Requirement Exception
Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services issued an Operations Memo updating an exception to the work requirement for FoodShare. Starting October 1, 2024, people will be exempt from meeting the FoodShare work requirement if they live in a geographic area that has a higher unemployment rate than the national average. There was a similar policy in effect that expired September 30, 2024. The new policy is similar – but note, the geographic areas impacted have changed. We explain.
