Social Security Changes Policy to Fix When SSI is Under Paid
The Social Security Administration announced it is making progress with more timely release of underpayments. With internal changes, the Agency says they are better able to release funds in a timely manner. Underpayments are not a large share of the total payments administered under the SSI program, but the agency says they still can cause significant hardships for people waiting. We explain the change and its impact.
