Unboxing and putting the xTool D1 Pro with Air assist together.
I know for a lot of people using a laser in combination with hand engraving is like swearing in the curche.. I used to be negative to it as well, at least very skeptical.
Anyway, we live in 2023 and I was thinking I should at least knowing what I´m talking about so I got the @xtool D1 Pro 20W laser with RA2 pro kit.. which means the rotator tool so I can use it on round objects too which can be very handy.. Plus the Air Assist which blows dust away to keep the lens and laser marks more clean.. Also got an extra 1064nm Infrared laser module which is stronger and better on metals..
I have no plans to start laser engraving metals, but after a little testing I tried to use it to transfer my designs, and I must say I´m quite surprised and happy about the result. It turns out great and defiantly very useful is some situations. And the hand engraving can still be 100% hand engraved.
It also cuts wool, plastic and leather so I think it can be very useful for making holding jigs and stuff like that. Also as an old leather worker I might make some leather gadgets.
I also plan to make some practice plates with my designs, so you dont have to worry to rub off the design... if you're interested?
Here is just a little video where putting the machine together. First impression is that the parts has a lot higher quality than I was expecting. I spent maybe 50 -- 60 minutes to put it together.. only thing I struggled a little with was to attache the cables. They could have been placed a little more available, but other than that, i´m very happy about it so far.
It´s not an explaining video, but you can see how easy it was.. about an hour in 5 minutes or so..
