#Electricity

Hello everyone! Today we will discuss one of the most important discoveries in physics. Did you guess it? I'm talking about the discovery of electricity. Magnetic phenomena have been known for centuries and thanks to this we have had compasses for at least 800 years. But electricity took us a longer time to understand. We have been aware of thins as electric shock for centuries, yet it's only in the last 500 years that we've formulated our understanding in a more rigorous way. It's hard to say when electricity was discovered, as we discovered many of its phenomena over the years. Physically we often consider electricity as something having to do with electrons, and the electron was the first fundamental particle to be discovered in 1897 by J. J. Thomson. This marked the beginning of a new era of particle and quantum physics. So, what is electricity? That's the topic of today.
